Adopt A Cross

When you Adopt A Cross, your donation will help ensure present and future generations will remember and never forget the thousands of men and women from Southern Alberta and across Canada who gave their tomorrows for our today.

Since 2009, during the 11 days leading up to Remembrance Day, the Calgary landscape is punctuated by over 3500 crosses. The crosses serve as silent sentinels paying tribute to soldiers from Southern Alberta, and all of Canada, who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our freedom.

The Field of Crosses has been supported through the generosity of J. Murray McCann.  In 2018 Murray gifted his private memorial tribute to the citizens of Calgary and Southern Alberta.  In doing so, the Field of Crosses became a registered charity, overseen by an independent Board of Directors from Southern Alberta.

While Murray and his family continue to support the Field of Crosses, the Board – and indeed the citizens of Southern Alberta – wish to see the great tribute enshrined with a sense of permanence, to live up to the Field of Crosses’ motto We Will Never Forget.

The Field of Crosses seeks to create a sustainable funding model to allow this magnificent memorial to live on for generations to come.

We are seeking funding, to mount this purposeful project on an annual basis, and to create a legacy fund which will preserve it as part of our city’s commitment to honouring our fallen in perpetuity.

Each year the cost of presenting this tribute exceeds $300,000.  We are seeking to raise that from our community.

All donations will receive a tax receipt.
